Less than 10 minutes' walk away for the Soutsider, the National Museum of Scotland tells the history of Scotland, its land, people, and culture. While the National Gallery of Scotland comprises works from every major figure of art in the Western World with a large collection of works by Scottish artists. Learn all about the gruesome side of Scotland's history at the Edinburgh Dungeons where you'll be taken on a journey through the past by a host of grizzly characters. So much fun it's scary! Visit the Scottish Whisky Experience where you actually become part of the whisky making experience on a barrel ride through the distillery and sample some specially selected whiskies. Just one mile from the city centre, the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh offers visitors peace and tranquillity amongst 72 acres of stunning scenery. Edinburgh's Royal Mile is one of the most famous streets in the world stretching from Edinburgh Castle down to the Palace of Holyrood House. Filled with gift shops it's a must for visitors to the city. Edinburgh Castle overlooks the city below from the top of an extinct volcano.
